Our Story

More than a pub — it's the heart of the village

Welcome to Our Corner of Hampshire

Where the kettle's always on and the fire's always lit

Tucked away in the pretty village of Longparish, The Cricketers Inn has been the beating heart of this community for generations. It's the kind of place where muddy boots are welcome, where the dog gets a treat before you've even ordered your pint, and where the fire always seems to be crackling away in the grate.

The Heart of the Pub

Under new stewardship, we've poured love and care into breathing fresh life into this wonderful old pub — while keeping everything that makes it special. The oak beams are still here. The warmth is still here. And we reckon the beer might just be a little bit better.

The Cricketers Inn

A Proper Welcome

Our philosophy is simple: source the finest ingredients Hampshire has to offer, cook them with care and generosity, pull a proper pint, and treat every person who walks through the door like an old friend. Whether you're popping in for a quick half after a walk along the Test, or settling in for a long Sunday lunch with the family, you're always welcome here.

What We Believe In

The things that matter to us — and hopefully to you too

🌿

Proper Local Sourcing

Our beef comes from Hampshire farms. Our fish from the South Coast. Our vegetables from nearby market gardens. We know our suppliers by name, and you can taste the difference.

🤝

Community & Belonging

A village pub should be the living room of the community. We host quiz nights, folk evenings, and all manner of local gatherings. Everyone's welcome.

Quality Without Fuss

No foam on the plate here. Just honest, well-made food and carefully kept ales. Simple things, done brilliantly.

🏠

Warmth & Welcome

From the moment you step through the door, we want you to feel at home. Muddy boots, children, well-behaved dogs — all are welcome by the fire.

🌱

Treading Lightly

We care about the countryside we're part of. We minimise waste, use sustainable suppliers, and try to leave the world a little better than we found it.

Passion & Pride

Every member of our team genuinely loves what they do. That's not something you can fake — and we think you'll feel it the moment you walk in.

Our Hampshire Suppliers

The folk who help us put great food on your plate

We're proud to work with some of Hampshire's finest producers. Here are just a few of the people behind the food and drink:

The Team

The friendly faces behind the bar and in the kitchen

From the kitchen team crafting each dish with care, to the bar staff who'll remember your favourite drink, to the smiling faces who welcome you at the door — we're a small but dedicated bunch who genuinely love what we do.

We believe hospitality is a craft, not just a job. And we're always on the lookout for kindred spirits to join us. If that sounds like you, drop us a line.

Good to Know

Answers to the things people often ask us

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Absolutely. We offer vegetarian dishes as standard and can accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and most other dietary needs. Just let us know when you arrive (or when booking) and our kitchen will look after you.

Do I need to book?

Walk-ins are always welcome — there's nearly always room at the bar. For dinner, weekends, and Sunday roast, we'd recommend booking to avoid disappointment. You can book online or give us a ring.

Are children welcome?

Very much so! We have high chairs, a children's menu, and families are welcome in the dining area until 8pm. We love seeing little ones enjoying themselves.

Can you host private events?

We'd be delighted to. Birthdays, anniversaries, wakes, christenings — we can arrange private areas and bespoke menus. Get in touch and let's plan something lovely.

Are dogs allowed?

Well-behaved dogs on leads are very welcome in the bar area. We keep biscuits behind the bar and a water bowl by the door. They're practically regulars.

What does "locally sourced" actually mean?

Dishes marked "Local" feature key ingredients sourced from Hampshire farms and producers within about 30 miles. We know our suppliers personally and can tell you exactly where your food comes from.

Do you do takeaway?

Selected items are available for takeaway. Give us a ring to order ahead and we'll have it ready for you to collect.

Come & See for Yourself

The fire's lit, the ales are poured, and there's a seat with your name on it.
